Bad service at a restaurant is one thing. This happens. You can get bad service when a waiter has a bad day, when staff is shorthanded, when wind is blowing the smell of sewage into the kitchen… But rude, offensive behavior is another matter.
When a restaurant has a good thing going, is it acceptable to treat their customers like complete garbage? Is it a clever marketing ploy to crap on your repeat customers? To offend the people who fund your success? Why would someone do this?
I can’t answer the last question, why would someone behave this way, but I can bring attention to a violation of common interpersonal respect and a lack of dignity on the part of the proprietor of “taqueria del sol”
Someone said, "well, it is Decatur." I don't buy that. There are lots of restaurants in Decatur that have excellent service and are gracious for your business.
I have several times been offended when dining at “taqueria del sol”. I wrote it off the first few times as an anomaly. The man may have had a bad day. He may have been frustrated with an employee. But I’ve been outright defiled and abused, on numerous occasions, by the same people whose livelihood I help make possible.
Did this guy watch too much Seinfeld? Does he think that by being a schmuck he can generate a buzz about his tacos? Is there a method behind his madness or is this just a genuine prick making a mockery of America? Don't just take my word for it. Check out the overwhelming response on CitySearch - "taqueria Del Sol" on citysearch.com Do yourself a favor, skip “Taquira Del Sol”. Eat anywhere else in Atlanta. I feel so offended and disappointed after this that I can’t get it out of my head. I am sure I will recover fully. I may in fact one day open, right next door, “Tacos with a smile” and serve the same, simple tacos. I will, however, not make you wait for an hour outside while tables are free inside, I won’t make you feel like a moron if the waiter screws up the order and I definitely won’t hate the customers who step in my door.
